The term 'Just Transition' is increasingly used in discussions about how to fairly move to a carbon-neutral economy. We think proposing to site part of the ETZ on valued, and valuable, green spaces such as St. Fittick's Park and Doonies Farm, is an example of what would be an extremely unjust transition. The Scottish Government's Just Transition Commission was set up in 2019 to advise Ministers how best to take action 'to tackle climate change and make Scotland a healthier, more prosperous and more equal society, whilst restoring its natural environment'.
